Despite claims by pressure group Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA) that EC boss Charlotte Osei has displayed bias in favour of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the campaign coordinator for the NDC has cheekily pronounced on Joy News, that even if Nana Addo is made Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC), President John Mahama will be retained by Ghanaians as their leader.

Convener of LMVCA, David Asante expressed grave worry that the EC despite the supreme court’s ruling to delete the names of persons who registered to vote with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) card from the electoral roll in 2014, the EC has been unwilling at best dodgy on the issue.

NPP leaning David Asante says the verdict on Tuesday ordering the EC to immediately delete the names is an indictment on the EC’s trustworthiness but NDC’s Kofi Adams, holds, the views of the LMVCA Convener, are unfounded.

"I am surprised that all of a sudden a whole Commission with Commissioners is reduced to the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission," he said on Wednesday adding “It is not the Electoral Commissioner that wins the election. Indeed the Electoral Commission is not the Commissioner.”

Opposition elements have claimed Tuesday’s verdict by the apex court as victory as has the Plaintiffs, the People’s National Conventions (PNC)’s Abu Ramadan and one Evans Nimako.

The Plaintiffs held that the existence of NHIS card registrants on the electoral roll makes it non-credible for the conduct of the November general elections.
