Former President John Dramani Mahama has called for more unity in the quest to shape Africa’s future, as envisaged by our forefathers, on a day the continent celebrates African Union day.

Today, May 25, marks the 54th Anniversary of the foundation of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) (now known as the African Union). It is being celebrated across the African continent.

In a message marking the day, the immediate-past president of Ghana pointed out the need for Africans to build a united front devoid of barriers, stereotypes and relics of neocolonialism to help build a better Africa where generations could be proud of.

“Let’s keep working at it, let’s tear down the barriers, let’s tear down stereotypes, let’s tear down the relics of Neocolonialism and let’s work hard to shape our common future as our forebears envisaged”, he posted.
