President John Mahama's promise to create three million jobs if he is voted for a second term in office is possible but only when he is able to deal with corruption, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Bosomtwe Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Simon Osei-Mensah has stated.

President Mahama on Wednesday promised to create three million jobs if he wins the December 7 elections.

In a statement on his website, President Mahama stated, “together with a new NDC Government, I will deliver the most ambitious job creation plan for our country. We will implement the Economic Transformation and Livelihood Empowerment Programme (ETLEP), an Initiative that will generate at least three million direct and indirect jobs".

But speaking on Class FM's Executive Breakfast Show, the Bosomtwe MP stated that though it was possible to achieve the feat, the high levels of corruption in President Mahama's administration was not going to make funds available to execute any such plan.

"When the right economic foundation is laid, he can create three million jobs or more but there is too much corruption and the funds may be misused", he maintained, adding that "it is possible when corruption is reduced".

According to him, the promise sounds like one aimed at just winning votes since the NDC's manifesto did not contain any special policies on the creation of such a huge number of jobs.

"What policies does the NDC have in their manifesto to create the three million jobs?", Mr  Osei-Mensah who is also an economist questioned.
