The Ministry of Health has disbursed GHS 462 million to cover six months’ worth of training allowances for 120,000 nursing students across the country, fulfilling a key campaign promise by President John Dramani Mahama.

‎In a press release, the Ministry said the payment is part of a broader government initiative to provide financial support to students in nurses training colleges.

‎Payments began on Thursday and will continue through next Friday.

‎“This payment, which covers a six-month period, forms part of a broader initiative by the government to provide financial support to students in nurses training colleges,” the Ministry stated.

‎The Ministry described the move as a significant step toward improving the welfare of nursing trainees and sustaining the motivation of future health professionals.

‎Deputy Director and spokesperson to the ministry Tony Goodman expressed appreciation to President Mahama and stakeholders for ensuring the timely release and distribution of the funds.

‎The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to working with nursing institutions to ensure the continued delivery of quality healthcare education nationwide.
