The Gyaasehene of Abotoase, Nana Ansah Asiedu, has said that President John Mahama has already lost the 2016 elections.

Nana Ansah told the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, who paid a courtesy call on him as part of his Volta Region tour that President Mahama had blocked compensation payments for the construction of the Volta Lake to his community.

The chief said former President JA Kufuor initiated the payment of the compensations which he said were continued by the late President John Atta Mills. He said President Mahama, however, blocked the payments when he took office.

Nana Ansah, therefore, pleaded with Akufo-Addo to resume payment of compensations when he becomes president because, according to him President Mahama “is already gone” and  “has lost the election”.

“… he will go (in December). He has no choice but to go. So we are appealing to you (Nana Akufo-Addo) to resume the payments of compensation when you come into office in January 2017 because it is the means by which some of my people survive,” the chief said.
