The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), have at the least opportunity, referred to President John Mahama and his government in general as incompetent but contrary to the party's position, founding member, Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe believes President Mahama is an intelligent young man who is very competent at his job.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen on Tuesday, the former Ghana ambassador to Serbia and Montenegro in the Kufuor government said,  "I don't think John is incompetent, I don't think so at all".
According to him, the president is an intelligent young man with great love for the nation, adding that if he was incompetent as claimed by some members of the NPP, the country would have grounded to a halt long ago.
"If my party says so, they know what they are saying is not true. If he had been incompetent, this country would have been grounded long ago", he said, adding that, "He [President Mahama] is a very intelligent young man who has tremendous love for this nation and he is so amazing. There are things about that man that amazes me sometimes, it is not every political leader that goes everywhere and is accepted."
Dr Tamakloe despite this attestation to President Mahama's competence stated that that his comments were not an endorsement of the president’s re-election bid.
