Mahama nominates 33 MMDCEs for Eastern Region

President John Mahama has announced the nomination of Chief Executives for all 33 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Eastern Region.

This decision, made in accordance with Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), was contained in a statement signed by the Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim.

These nominations await approval by at least two-thirds of the members of their respective assemblies.

 

This brings the total number of MMDCEs appointed by President Mahama to 216 out of 261. Some nominees are already receiving strong endorsements while others face rejection.
