President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Diana Asoketarige Ayamga to serve as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bongo District in the Upper East Region of Ghana.
The nomination follows the passing of the previous DCE, Joseph Abaa Akaseke, who died in February 2026 after a short illness. The office became vacant as a result.
According to a statement from the Office of the President, Ms. Ayamga’s nomination will take effect once the Bongo District Assembly approves her appointment.
The nomination was made under the provisions of Article 243 of the 1992 Constitution and relevant sections of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).
The Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs also issued a separate release confirming the nomination and noting that it remains subject to assembly vetting and approval.
