Despite his heavy defeat in the December 7 polls, President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to go on a thank you tour starting Tuesday, December 20, 2016.
President Mahama set an unwanted record in the elections after he became the only sitting president to have lost his re-election bid.
While he polled 44.40% of the total valid votes cast against the presidential of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who won 53.85%, his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), lost close to 50 parliamentary seats giving the NPP a huge advantage in parliament.Â
But in a 10-day nationwide tour, Mr Mahama will be meeting traditional and religious leaders as well as regional and constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) across the country to show of his appreciation and bid a farewell.
Â
The will start off from the Upper East Region then later tour the Upper West, Northern, Brong Ahafo, Ashanti, Eastern, Volta, Central and Western Regions in that order before it climaxes in the Greater Accra Region on Friday, December 30, 2016.
