President John Mahama is set to cut sod for a new multi-tiered, multi-purpose car park and Airport Hotels Complex.
The ceremony expected to transform the Accra International Airport into world class infrastructure is scheduled to take place on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
The President, during his previous tenure, delivered landmark projects including Terminal 3 at the Kotoka International Airport, the massive MPS Terminal 3 at the Tema Harbour, and secured $400 million funding for the Tema to Mpakadan Rail Project, among others.
The new project is expected to significantly transform the Kotoka International Airport enclave and enhance passenger experience and airport commercial operations.
Features of the complex include: A 7-storey car park, Two hotels, a pedestrian connector to the terminal, over 2,000 car park bays, a shopping mall with food court, retail spaces and office spaces for rental, a sky lounge for entertainment, a sky observatory for aircraft viewing, landings and take-offs
The sod-cutting ceremony is expected to mark the commencement of construction works on the facility, which will add to the airport’s infrastructure and position it as a competitive aviation hub in the sub-region.
