A former National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has stated that,  former President Mahama lost the just ended 2016 elections to President Akufo Addo because he guarded himself with young “inexperienced handlers.”

The former NDC chairman stated that, the bottom-line that has placed the NDC in opposition is former President John Mahama was deceived.

“His [Mahama] handlers misled him. They were inexperienced. I will say this anywhere without fear or favour. We are all to blame,”

Though numerous reasons have been pinpointed for the party's defeat. The party’s founder former President J.J. Rawlings attributed the defeat to the arrogance of power exhibited by the appointees of the Mahama-led administration.

However speaking on Starr FM’s personality show Starr Chat, Dr. Kwabena Adjei reiterated that the younger handlers of Mahama disallowed the older ones with “a wealth of experience” from getting closer to the President hence his miserable defeat.

Dr. Adjei added that, he was put aside throughout the 2016 elections, but did his best in his own way to contribute during the electioneering.

“I’ve a wealth of experience. The young ones failed to tap into our experience… the NDC has run into a ditch and we have to do our best to resurrect that party. Right now who becomes an executive member is out of place”
