Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed his profound gratitude to Ghanaians for their prayers during his short illness which made him travel to the UK for further treatment.

The Vice President in a tweet on Friday, February 2 said: "In particular, I thank President @NAkufoAddo, the Government, my lovely wife @SBawumia, my family, and you, the Ghanaian people, for the support."

The Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was flown out on Friday, January 19 upon the advice of his doctors after he fell ill after reporting to work.

His sudden illness sparked debate on both traditional and social media for the cause of the illness to be disclosed to the public.

On Saturday, January 27, footage of him and his wife walking on the street pop up on the internet.

Before the video surfaced, Minister of Information Mustapha Hamid on news analysis show Newsfile on JoyFM assured the public the Vice President was recovering and will soon return to the country in no time.

Mahamudu Bawumia back from UK

But the Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife Samira Bawumia have arrived in the country yesterday after medical treatment in London, after resuming work on Friday he tweeted: : I have resumed work today, Friday, 2nd February 2018, to continue with President Akufo-Addo’s dream of helping build a prosperous Ghana."

He added that "My sincere gratitude also goes to the mosques, churches, and individuals who in diverse ways interceded on my behalf, as well as the medical staff who discharged their duties in a most professional manner."
