The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Assin North Municipal Assembly, Dr Kofi Blankson in the Central has expressed his displeasure at attempts by Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP), Kennedy Agyapong to commission a Market Shed constructed at Foso, the municipal capital with the MP's share of the common fund.

According to Dr Blankson, Mr Agyapong had caused an announcement to be made that he would be commissioning the said project with his party's running mate for the upcoming general elections, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who is on a campaign tour in the region.

In a statement released on Thursday, he said though the MP had the prerogative to identify projects for construction and commission them, it was wrong on the part of Mr Agyapong to make such projects part of a political campaign.

"Dr Bawumia will be acting ultra vires should he be given  the opportunity to spearhead such an event which is the preserve of my office as the Municipal Chief Executive", Dr Blankson who will be contesting Kennedy Agyapong for the Assin Central parliamentary seat as the NDC's candidate said, stressing that "it is not within the domain of Dr Bawumia to commission any project in the Municipality with funding from the District Assemblies Common Fund, when no government official is involved and my office in particular, has been disregarded.

He, therefore, urged "the general public not to participate in the illegality", which he said "will be resisted swiftly"
