Minority in Parliament has accused the Educational Minister Mathew Opoku Prempeh of causing financial loss to the state to the tune of GHS1m.

According to the Minority, the Sector Minister also known as Napo has spent GHS1m on the travel expenses of some 13 National Service personnel last year to go outside the country to learn about some new computer software and programs to boost their capacity which they believe was outrageous.

Minority MP Ras Mubarak said there are equally competent educational facilities in the country like GIMPA which also offer the same courses at an affordable price.

Speaking to the media, Ras Mubarak said he will consult the leadership of the Minority to find a way to solve the issues either to call for an investigation into the case.

The Educational Minister has been in the news for blaming former President Mahama for the current economic hardship in the country.

His response follows a statement from President Mahama criticizing the harsh implementation of the Free SHS policy making it absorb all the fiscal space and hindering development at the other sectors of the economy.

According to him, “the country is suffering” because of the bad governance of the Mahama administration.

He further questioned why former President Mahama did not do his best to improve the economy when he had the opportunity to be in office as president.

“Mahama is the worst president in history…we are suffering because of President Mahama. His actions resulted in the country being saddled with corruption; create loot and share…” he noted.
