The Ministry of Education as part of the Free Senior High School Policy will pay motivation fee to teachers of the various Senior High Schools in the country.

Addressing the Media in Accra, Minister of Education Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh said motivation fee will form part of the package of the policy and will help help teachers give out their best in educating the future generation.

The Free SHS Policy was the major campaign promise of the New Patriotic Party during the 2016 general elections. President Akufo-Addo earlier this year announced at Okuapeman Secondary School program will start in September 2017.

Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh said the ministry has in place a National Inspectorate Board that will monitor absenteeism among teachers in the schools-as other measures are looked at to sustain the policy. The Board will make sure teachers are always available to teach the students.

He further stated that $4000m have been provided in the 2017 budget  to support the project and out of these, 42 model schools will be built to aid quality education. Textbooks and other learning materials will also be provided.
