The former Medical Director of the Ridge Hospital has claimed that the termination of his contract is politically motivated.

Dr Thomas Anaba was appointed on February 1, 2016 for a period of four years with an option to re-apply,  but was dismissed by the Public Service Commission and the Ghana Health Service (GHS) on Monday, May 15, 2017.

Speaking to 3FM, the former Medical Director, who contended his leadership realised a lot development at the referral facility, accused the Health Minister of being responsible for his removal.

According to him, his tenure saved the medical facility millions of cedis to the extent that “I saved the Hospital more than GH¢60,000 a month on vehicle purchase”.

He also cited how he brought laparoscopic equipment to the facility – the first in Ghana – from his own pocket “[but] by the help of the Korean Embassy.”

The former director called on civil society including the Christian Council of Ghana and the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) to probe further how a professional can be sacked within a “twinkle of the eye”.

“I only want clarification for what I’ve done to be sacked for it to be on record because I don’t want posterity and people to be thinking and conjecturing why I left the place, so that I can also leave in peace.”
