Attempts by Carlos Kinglsey Ahenkorah, Tema West parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to make peace with Irene Naa Torshie Addo, the incumbent Member of Parliament for the area have yet to bear any fruits as the MP seems not to be interested.

Mr Ahenkorah is unhappy about the situation because he has done everything in his power to make peace including following her up to church but has been snubbed on all occassions.

According to him, he requested the pastor of Irene Naa Torshie’s church to hand him the microphone and to permit him a minute of their time to plead with Naa Torshie to smoke the peace pipe with her, but that move was rejected by the MP.

“I have exhausted all the avenues available to me to ensure that my sister and I put behind whatever might have happened between us, but the result has still been the same –bitterness,”   he said, adding that joining Naa Torshie at her church to worship with her was the last peace building attempt I have made.

Carlos Ahenkorah won 503 votes to beat Naa Torshie Addo who had 273 in the NPP constitutency primary last year but she seems not to have taken her defeat well.

That notwithstanding, Carlos Ahenkorah said the NPP in the constituency was bent on ensuring that the area continued to be the waterloo of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in this year’s general elections.

“We are working for the NPP and Nana Addo, therefore, I am still willing to meet with Naa Torshie to make peace so that we can still form the formidable winsome team for the party we both love to serve,” he said.
