Nana Addo sacks CEO of Minerals Commission

President Akufo Addo has directed the Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission Dr.Toni Aubynn, to proceed on leave.

Dr Aubynn, who was appointed by the erstwhile John Mahama’s government broke the news to the staff of the commission during a brief meeting on Monday.

The former CEO before his appointment was the Chair of the Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining (ASM) Working Group of ICMM and a long-time member of the Strategic Management Advisory Group of the World Bank and DFID sponsored Community and Artisanal Small-scale Mining (CASM).

He currently serves on a number of boards, including the Council of the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa, and the Ghana Railway Development Authority. He is the Chair of the UN Global Compact Ghana Network as well as the Amenfiman Rural Bank, a leading Ghana Club 100 Rural Bank in Ghana.

Dr Tony Aubynn expressed his appreciation to the government for the opportunity offered him to serve the nation in his capacity.

It is unclear who will succeed him as CEO of the Minerals Commission.
