Former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings has being congratulated by New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over her election as the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Party (NDP).

Mrs Rawlings was on Saturday, by accalamation, elected as the presidential candidate of the NDP for the upcoming general elections, a party she founded after breaking away from ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2012.

In his congratulatory message,  Akufo-Addo said, “I congratulate warmly Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings on her election, on Saturday, April 30, 2016, as the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Party (NDP) for the 2016 elections.

“Her wealth of experience in Ghanaian politics should put her in good stead to help steer and shape the nature of our political discourse from one of attrition, personality attacks and negative preoccupations to an issues-based campaign, hinged on the competition of policies and ideas.

“That is how the public interest of our nation can be best served. The New Patriotic Party and I welcome her into the race for the Presidency and wish her well.”
