The running-mate to the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, says the government of President John Mahama will be replaced by that of Akufo-Addo in exactly 216 days.

Dr Bawumia said this in a Facebook post on Tuesday after he met lecturers and students of the University of Mines and Techology (UMaT) in the Western Region.

He said he had to meet the students and their lecturers at the Tarkwa Roman Catholic Parish Hall, after University authorities stopped him from holding the forum on the campus of the university.

Dr Bawumia said: "The attempts to frustrate our interactions on various campuses and the response of the youth in defying such schemes are the clearest indication that the youth have decided that enough is enough and that it is time for change. The youth are choosing a future of jobs over joblessness, a future of prudent management of our economy over recklessness and mismanagement and a future of competent governance over incompetence.

'I made the point that there is little anyone can do to stop change.

"Change cannot be stopped and it cannot be delayed and in 216 days, Nana Akufo-Addo will be the President-Elect, Insha Allah."

Meanwhile the management of UMaT has explained that a planned lecture by the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on campus was cancelled because not all students agreed to and supported the programme.
