NDC Regional Executive Elections: 70 pick nomination forms in Ashanti Region

Seventy prospective candidates picked their nominations forms to contest the Ashanti Regional Executive positions in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The National Executive of the NDC opened nominations for the Regional Executive positions on Monday, July 16, 2018 and closed on Wednesday, July 18, 2018.

The positions being vied for in the Region are the chairperson, vice chairperson, secretary, deputy secretary, organizer and deputy organizer.

The rest are treasure, deputy treasure, communications officer, deputy communications officer, zongo caucus, youth organizer, deputy youth organizer, women’s organizer and deputy women organizer.

In the chairperson race, six people picked their nominations, seven picked for the vice chairperson, three picked for the secretary, five picked for the deputy secretary, while six picked for the organizer.

Eight people picked for the deputy organizer position, three people for treasure, six for the deputy treasure, three for the communications officer, three for deputy communications officer, and one for the zongo caucus.

Three people picked for the youth organizer position, eight for deputy youth organizer, three for women’s organizer and five for the deputy women’s organizer

The Regional Election Committee Chairman, Henry Nii Charway Hammond, in an interview with PrimeNewsGhana said the turnout was above their imaginations.

He said there was an enthusiasm from the party’s supporters during the picking of the nomination forms and that testify the strengthening of the party in opposition to 2020 victory.

He encouraged all the nominees to prepare for the vetting process schedule for August 1-5, 2018, and the filing date of the nominations forms, also in July 24-25, 2018.

The NDC Regional elections are expected to be held on August 25, 2018, across the country.
