Director of Elections at the National Democratic Congress(NDC) Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has condemned the New Patriotic Party(NPP)'s declaration of the election results in the favour of Nana Akufo- Addo and the NPP saying the act is irresponsible.
Speaking to the media few  minutes ago, he said, the Electoral Commission(EC) is the only body responsible for declaring results of the elections and not any other political party.
The NPP has announced that it is currently taking a commanding lead of over four million and looks very confident of winning the elections.
"We have all decided to play by the rules and follow a certain pattern so it is not right for the NPP to be announcing that they are taking a lead in the elections,"he stated.
He added that, this would only cause tension in the country and would advice the NPP to desist from such comments.
According to him, the NDC has mechanisms of collating results and they are in the lead but would not declare themselves as winners as they wait upon the right authority-the EC to do so.
