Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has begun a two-day campaign tour of the Central Region as part of preparations for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primary scheduled for January.

As part of the tour, Dr Bawumia is expected to hold meetings with constituency and regional executives across the region, continuing a series of engagements designed to consolidate support for his flagbearership bid.

The former Vice President has already embarked on similar outreach activities in the Ashanti and Eastern Regions, where he interacted with party executives and delegates.

His campaign team has described the regional engagements as critical to building consensus and strengthening his support base ahead of the contest.

Dr Bawumia’s campaign has so far received notable endorsements from a broad section of the party’s hierarchy and grassroots. Some NPP members of parliament, former district chief executives, former parliamentary candidates, constituency executives and grassroots groups have publicly declared their backing for his candidature.

Dr Bawumia is focusing his campaign on unifying the NPP and positioning it to reclaim power in the 2028 general elections.
