The National Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has constituted an Ad Hoc Committee to monitor and safeguard the integrity of the campaign process ahead of the Party’s presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.
The decision follows a meeting with aspiring presidential candidates on September 11, 2025. The Committee will be responsible for ensuring that campaign activities are conducted in a respectful and dignified manner consistent with the values of the NPP.
According to the statement issued on Monday, September 15, 2025, the Committee has been tasked to:

Monitor the comments, actions, and conduct of all aspirants and their followers during the campaign period.

Receive and review petitions from aspirants regarding hate speech, insults, and abusive language.

Recommend disciplinary measures and other sanctions where necessary to preserve the unity and image of the Party.
The Committee members include Ing. Dr. Kwasi Abeasi (Chairman), Dr. Alex Glover-Quartey, Mr. Ato Hamilton, Mr. Kwadwo Afari, and Mr. Mark Opoku, who serves as Secretary.
The Council of Elders urged all aspirants, campaign teams, and supporters to cooperate fully with the Committee to ensure a peaceful and transparent process. It further emphasized the Party’s commitment to conducting a respectful and dignified primary that fosters unity and prepares the NPP for the 2026 general elections.
