The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced plans to hold a National Thanksgiving Service following the successful conduct of its presidential primary on January 31.
The election saw former Vice President and 2024 flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerged victorious with 56.48%.
The party touted what it described as a widely hailed, peaceful, credible, and transparent poll.
In a statement released on Monday, February 9, the NPP said the service is meant to express gratitude to God for a smooth electoral process.
“Following the successful conduct of the New Patriotic Party’s Presidential Primary held on January 31, 2026, the Party will hold a National Thanksgiving Service to express its profound gratitude to the Almighty God for a peaceful and historic exercise,” it read in part.
The party outlined that the Islamic Thanksgiving Prayer Service will take place on Friday, February 13, at the National Mosque, Kanda.
The Interdenominational Christian Thanksgiving Service is scheduled for Sunday, February 22, at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) Auditorium.
“The National Thanksgiving Service will be graced by the Party’s Presidential Candidate and will bring together Christian and Muslim clergy, Party leaders, current and former Members of Parliament, former Ministers, former CEOs/MDs, MDEs, and other former government appointees,” the statement added.
