The over politicisation of government's flagship programme, Free Senior High School [SHS] policy may collapse the programme in the near future.

That's according to the 2016 Presidential candidate of the Progressive Peoples Party [PPP] Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom who explained that the over involvement of politics in the Free SHS policy may cause the collapse of the programme.

Papa Kwesi Nduom said there was no need for the government to create a new secretariat and even launched the policy as it could have just been added to the existing educational system.

The free SHS policy by the New Patriotic Party government has commenced today September 11 across the country, offering all new entries to the various SHS fee free admission. But the policy implementation has been faced with some challenges as some schools have complained of not receiving the needed funds for the start of the program.

The placement of some students has also not been smooth as parents complain of accommodation facilities at schools they thought were boarding but were rather day schools.

Commenting on the policy and its implementation, Papa Kwesi Ndoum cautioned the government to be very careful with politicising the policy.

"Take politics out of it and let's make sure we go by the Constitution of the republic so that it stays cause it's important"

He noted that politicisation of the policy will make it difficult for successive governments to continue with the policy when the NPP government leaves power because the mention of Free SHS will be associated with NPP.
