A public forum is to be held on Monday, July 11 to give stakeholders and the public, in general, an opportunity to make inputs into the Constitution (Amendment) Bill.

Currently before Parliament, the Bill seeks to change the date of Ghana’s elections from the current December 7 to the first Monday of every  November in every election year by amending Article 112(4) of the 1992 Constitution.

The new voting day is expected to give enough time for a transition from one government to the other, especially in the event of run-offs.

According to the Public Affairs department of Parliament, the forum will take place at Committee Rooms 1 & 2 at 9:00am prompt..

If passed, this year’s elections will be held on November 7, 2016 while the next five elections will be held on November 2, 2020.
