Police arrest man over viral death threats against Afenyo-Markin, two others

The Eastern South Regional Police Command has announced the arrest of a man identified as Alhaji Abdul Wahab in Koforidua.

Abdul Wahab’s arrest is in connection with a viral video in which he allegedly issued death threats against the Minority Leader and Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu Constituency in the Central Region, Alexander Kwame Afenyo-Markin, and two others.

According to a statement released and signed by DSP David Fianko-Okyere of the Public Affairs Unit on Monday, September 15, 2025, the suspect was picked up in Koforidua and has since been cautioned and granted bail.

The suspect, Abdul Wahab, is expected to report to the Regional Police Headquarters in Kyebi to assist further with investigations.

The statement assured the public of a fair and transparent investigation and pledged to provide timely updates as the case progresses.
