With EC deadline time ever creeping close to 5pm, the Great Consolidated Popular Party’s (GCPP) Dr. Henry Herbert Lartey has filed his nomination papers.

He however was disappointed that the Progressive People’s Party which had championed the cause against the incremental fee of GH¢50,000 and GH¢10,000 set for presidential and parliamentary hopefuls by the Electoral Commission (EC) at the courts, would turn around and offer the sum smacking of a betrayal.

The PPP filed a suit at the High Court in on September 19 seeking an interlocutory injunction to prevent the Commission from receiving the nominations in protest of the EC’s much criticized increase in the filing fees for presidential and parliamentary aspirants.

Meanwhile the presidential nominee of the United Development Systems Party (UDSP) has also filed his papers. Warrant officer 1, Nixon Tettey stood as an independent candidate in 2008 before forming and standing on his party’s ticket.

The People’s National Convention is however yet to file its nomination papers.
