President Dramani Mahama has opened a new ICT hub in Accra to offer an estimated 10,000 jobs for the youth.

Inaugurating the facility, the president identified the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector as a growing force which requires critically attention.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader used the Accra Digital Centre inauguration to also launch the ICT Youth and Employment Programme.

According to President Mahama, despite restrictions on employment into certain sectors, the health and education sectors are exempt.

The old Public Works warehouses were modified to serve as the Grade A facilities exhibited and branded as Business Process Outsourcing Centre formally known as the Accra Digital Centre.

“This facility is putting Ghana on the map as a credible and bonafide ICT Outsourcing Centre,” President Mahama noted adding “there are now digital jobs for digital youth.”

The president was also delighted that the containment of the power outages has enabled businesses to thrive.

Minister for Communications, Edward Omane Boamah intimated that there was more than enough broadband for both fixed and other data options noting the Mahama government in partnership with telecommunication companies are working to make the new center’s service top notch.
