For the first time in the history of Ghana, the Executive shall be separated from the legislature as President John Mahama will win the elections but New Patriotic Party(NPP) will have majority in parliament.

According to the Campaign Coordinator of the NDC, Kofi Adams, the issue of executive control over the legislature would change after the EC has declared President Mahama as the re-elected leader.

“That would be very historic in Ghana’s democracy since independence with the executive not controlling the legislature,” he stated.

He said, they are aware President Mahama has taken a good lead in the Presidential race with their collation.

“But we will wait for the EC as the NPP keeps giving conflicting figures,” he stressed.

“We admit that we have lost the parliamentary elections but interested in Presidential elections which we are winning.”

He joined supporters who are currently at the residence of the President to celebrate and support their leader.

Also, present at the President’s house is retained North Tongu Member of Parliament(MP), Okudzeto Ablakwa who said it was important to show love and solidarity to the President at this time of uncertainty.

“We must not abandon the President at this time where we are all waiting for the EC to come out with the results,” he stated.

He added that the party would find out the cause of the low turnout in the Volta region though over 70% voted in his constituency.
