Personnel of the Criminal Investigative Department [CID] of the Ghana Police Service have stormed the residence of the former deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney-General Dr Dominic Ayine, in connection with investigations into the Ameri power deal.

Information reaching primenewsghana indicate that Personnel from the CID in a simultaneous manner ransacked the residences of Dr Ayine and the former Deputy Energy Minister John Jinapor on Friday morning.

The CID has since Monday, July 24 been storming the homes of public officials in the Mahama administration linked to the Ameri deal. Among the homes raided are those of Former Power Minister Kwabena Donkor and a former technical adviser at the Energy Ministry, Francis Gyata.

The Ameri deal is a $510 million contract signed between the Government of Ghana and Ameri Energy during the power crisis for the supply of gas turbines to Ghana. It was to provide additional power to the national grid to ease the debilitating load shedding exercise that plagued the country at the time.

The Akufo-Addo administration after taking over power setup a 17-member committee to probe the agreement over claims it was inflated to the tune of $150million.

According to the CID, the former government appointees are being investigated for causing financial loss to the state.
