With many reckoning that the actors in the political ring are becoming intolerant, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has added his voice calling for moderation and circumspection.

Otumfuo urged NPP presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo who had called on him to run an issue-based campaign just as his contender President John Mahama has pledged.

“We do not need insults. This will not help Ghana. When President Mahama came, he promised running an issue-based campaign devoid of insults. He also assured Ghanaians of a peaceful election.

“You have also assured me same. I have not met the smaller parties yet but I know they will also promise the same thing. My advice to everyone is to be mindful of their utterances and their conduct” adding “let us stop the insults and the use of intemperate language on the airwaves. Let us only promote what unites us, rather than what divides us. I pour my blessings on you. It is not about violence or insults.”

Nana Addo had called on the leader of the Asante state at Manhyia, July 14, supported by President Kufour and other party dignitaries.
