The National Council and National Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party will be meeting today to assess the outcome of the Super Delegates Congress held over the weekend.

The focus will be on reviewing the report from the elections committee responsible for overseeing the process

Additionally, the meeting will address the situation of the run-off between Boakye Agyarko and Francis Addai-Nimoh scheduled for Saturday, September 2.

The duo polled nine votes each in Saturday's election and will be slugging it this weekend to see who joins Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, Alan Kyeremateng, and Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto for the November 4 Primaries.

Ahead of the contest, both candidates have insisted on not withdrawing from the race.

In a statement on Monday, August 28, the former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko urged Ghanaians to disregard the false claims he has pulled out of the NPP flagbearer race.

"I have not made any such pronouncements with anyone or any media house, I am ready for the upcoming run-off scheduled for Saturday, 2nd September 2023," Boakye Agyarko said.

Also, his competitor Francis Addai-Nimoh has said that he will not step down for any candidate ahead of the planned run-off on Saturday.

“For now, I am still in the race. According to the rules or the guidelines, we agreed that if there is a tie for the fifth position, then there should be a run-off on September 2. That is what we put in the guidelines. But the guideline is a document approved by the National Council,” Francis Addai-Nimoh pointed out.
