New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicator Dennis Miracles Aboagye has denied claims that investigators from the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) discussed any GH¢55 million matter with him during his recent detention.
Aboagye, who was released from EOCO custody on Wednesday, said no such discussion took place and described reports linking him to the amount as a false narrative.
“For the records: there was no discussion of any GH¢55 million cedis with me by EOCO. None,” he said in a Facebook post hours after his release.
The former presidential aide said his detention came four days after he announced his intention to contest for the position of National Communications Director of the NPP.
He accused unnamed individuals of attempting to create a misleading impression about his arrest, but insisted that the truth would eventually emerge.
“The facts and the truth will prevail,” he said.
Aboagye thanked NPP supporters who protested and expressed solidarity following his detention, saying their actions strengthened his resolve to continue his political journey.
“From my detention, word of your protests reached me, and it kept my spirit standing tall,” he wrote.
He maintained that the development would not stop him from pursuing his ambition to lead the party’s Communications Directorate, saying attempts to intimidate him had failed.
“If the intention was to break me, it has failed. If the intention was to scare me, it has failed spectacularly,” he added.
