Vice President of the Republic, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyeman, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic stampede that occurred during a military screening exercise in Accra on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

In a message shared on her official X (formerly Twitter) account, Prof. Naana extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

“I am deeply saddened by the tragic stampede that occurred during yesterday’s military screening exercise. My heartfelt condolences go to the families who have lost their loved ones, and I wish the injured a swift and full recovery,” the Vice President wrote.

She further urged Ghanaians to rally around the affected families and support one another during this period of national grief.

“At this time, I urge all of us to keep the affected families in our thoughts and prayers. As the relevant state agencies respond to the incident, let us stand together and support one another through this difficult moment,” she added.

The Vice President’s message comes in the wake of the tragic incident at the El-Wak Sports Stadium, which claimed the lives of six young women and left several others injured during the ongoing recruitment exercise for the Ghana Armed Forces.
