Political parties must be legacy-minded in their day-to-day activities if they really want to curb violence and indiscipline in the Ghanaian political sphere, General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) Rev Dr Kwabena Opuni Frimpong has advised.

Commenting on the altercation between some private security men at the residence of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo and supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) who were passing through the vicinity as part of a health walk, he said the incident was unfortunate but blamed it on the parties for the lack of efforts to conscientize their supporters against the menace.

According to him, political parties, especially the NDC and NPP, "must make it clear that violence is not part of their traditions"

"If the parties were to distance themselves from violence and give away those engage in such behaviour,  followers will psych themselves up against violence even before they join them".

"We must be legacy-minded, legacy-conscious. What are we leaving behind as a party?", he lamented.

Speaking on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen on Wednesday, Rev. Dr Frimpong stated though President Mahama has blamed the police for the incident, it was not entirely their fault because the political parties sometimes make it difficult for the police to investigate incidents of this nature leaving many such cases unconcluded.

He, however, called on the Inspector of General Police (IGP), John Kudalor act accordingly for the perpetrators to be brought to book because people must know laws exist.
