New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Asunafo South Constituency in the Brong Ahafo, George Boakye has that described as inaccurate, reports that the party's supporters clashed with supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) over a voter transfer exercise being undertaken by the Electoral Commission (EC).

There were reports of altercations between supporters of both parties which resulted in many casualties including a man who lost one eye.

But speaking on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen on Monday, he stated that the NPP were victims rather than pariticipants in the acts of violences going on.

"We've not clashed with the NDC here in Asunafo. They are rather brutalising our members over transfer of votes", he asserted.

According to him, "the NDC is claiming that when it allows transfer of votes here, it will lose the elections thereby brutalizing people. They are doing so because they know they are losing losing the elections at Asunafo so the best thing for it to is violently putting fear into people".

He explained that members of the opposition were only restraaining themselves because "if we in NPP want to also be lawless, the whole constituency will turn upside down but we have conscience".

He further suggested that the situation had escalated because the police had turned a blind eye.

"Gradually Asunafo South is becoming a lawless area because the Police is shirking it's responsibilities", he pointed out.
