The Electoral Commission will refund filing fees paid by the disqualified presidential aspirants primenewsghana understands.
Of the 17 aspirants who picked nomination papers, only 4 survived the vetting process leaving out 12 parties, some of which have threatened to head to the law courts for redress.
The causalities include PPP’s Ndoum, PNC’s Mahama, APC’s Ayariga, GFP’s Donkoh, NDP’s Agyemang-Rawlings, UDSP’s Richard Nixon Tetteh, GCPP’s Lartey and RPD’s Kwabena Adjei.
The four who will appear on the ballot on December 7 all other things being equal are the NDC, NPP, CPP and Independent Candidate, Jacob Osei Yeboah.
Electoral Commissioner, Charlotte Osei made the mighty announcement which is set to change the life course of some of the aspirants at a press conference on Monday, October 10, after receiving the fees which the PPP had earlier placed an injunction on but was thrown out by the High Court.
The Deputy Communications Director of the (EC), Yusif Ayuba made known that the commission vetted the aspirants bearing in mind its regulation adding the aspirants had an opportunity to submit their forms early so when errors are pointed out to them they could effect changes before resubmitting on the September 30 deadline but many presented their forms on deadline day injuring their chances.
Presidential and parliamentary candidates in this year’s general election were required to pay GH¢50,000 and GH¢10,000 respectively.
