Minister of Youth and Sports and Member of Parliament for Odododiodoo in Accra, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye says they would put the law into their own hands if the police fail to defend them from the violence perpetuated by New Patriotic Party(NPP) Parliamentary Aspirant, Nii Lantey Bannerman.

According to him, “we have reached our limit and if the police would not defend us, we will defend ourselves.”

Mr. Vanderpuye was reacting to accusations by Mr. Bannerman that he has taken a violence posture and have attacked him this morning. He was speaking to Accra-based radio station Citi FM.

“I would continue to preach peace but I have reached my limit and will give Nii Lantey Bannerman war if he wants war and give him peace if he wants peace,” he stated.

“I will be the first example of peace but will not allow people to come and shoot my people. If they stop the violence, there would be peace,” he added.

He said, his opponent recently called him a coward and brought weapons to the town to attack him as he promised to give him(Vanderpuye) a dose of his own medicine.

The followers of the two, Mr. Vanderpuye and Mr. Bannerman have physically attacked each other in recent times with their ‘bosses’ also engaging in war of words.
