President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) Ben Nunoo Mensah says Ghana's hosting rights for the 2023 All-Africa Games (AAG) is an opportunity for the country to put up more sporting facilities.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYGH) released an official statement confirming Ghana's right to host the 2023 All Africa Games on Friday, 27th, October 2018.

According to the GOC boss, hosting right for the AAG is the right opportunity for the production of sporting infrastructures that have been lacking in previous years.

“For me as the President of the GOC, I am elated because one thing as a country (Ghana) we have been crying for over decades is the lack of facilities for our athletes. Therefore this is an opportunity to put up sporting infrastructures to develop talents.

“For my association with the bidding team will be getting facilities in Accra Kumasi, Cape Coast. This means we are going to have sport facilities spread over at least four regions for talent development,” Ben Nunoo Mensah told Starr Sports.

This is the first time Ghana will host the competition as the most successful country in the All-Africa Games is Egypt with 1362 medals in total.
