The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 13th Africa Games has extended its awareness campaign to the Western Region following a successful launch in Accra.

The LOC on Monday, December 25, 2023, joined thousands of Christmas revelers in Takoradi for the 2023 Christmas Carnival, as they marched through town with flyers, and banners of the competition which is expected to attract over 50 African countries.

The Tumus Masqueraders led the campaign, guiding the float through key streets in Takoradi before converging at the Market Circle, accompanied by music and dance.

The vibrant crowd, adorned in colorful attire, showcased their distinctive dancing skills, blending arts and culture to commemorate the festival and endorse the 13th edition of the African Games in Takoradi.

Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare, Executive Chairman of the LOC, emphasized in a media interview that the Christmas Carnival was a strategic move to publicize the African Games across the country. Despite the Games being hosted in Accra, he stressed the importance of generating nationwide enthusiasm and support.

Dr. Ofosu Asare assured that the LOC, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and other stakeholders, would spare no effort to ensure the Games become a memorable event.

He added that the LOC would actively involve various groups in the region in the Games. This Takoradi event marks the second float organized by the LOC, following a similar one held on Saturday, December 24, in Accra.

The continental celebration is slated to take place from Friday, March 8, 2024, to Saturday, March 23, 2024.
