Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah, has said the Accra Sports Stadium will be refurbished to make it one of the best sporting facilities in the country.
Speaking at the Sports Writers Association of Ghana(SWAG) Awards on Saturday night, he indicated the stadium which has not seen any renovation works since AFCON Â 2008, is high on the priority list of his outfit.
"We would urgently refurbish the Accra Sports Stadium and also put in place stringent measures for it to maintained".
He added that, it would be the duty of all sportsmen and patrons of the stadium to ensure that the facility is maintained to serve its purpose.
The Minister adviced the youth to engage themselves in sports as it presents many opportunities for progress in contemporary times.
Isaac Asiamah revealed the Youth and Sports Ministry, would be setting aside funds  to assist sports disciplines in the country, especially lesser known ones.
"The era of lesser known sports would end as we would set aside funds that would support all disciplines,"he stated.
That he said would attract the youth into sports and the issue of funds to manage activities of disciplines would also be solved.
He congratulated SWAG for consistently organizing the awards and called on corporate entities to come on board to help in the development of sports.
