The 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier pitting Kenya versus Sierra Leone has been called off by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The match scheduled for 18th of November at Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani, was cancelled as Sierra Leone is serving a FIFA ban handed for government interference in the FA’s affairs.

A letter by CAF to the FKF, signed by CAF Competitions Division’s Khaled Nassar confirms this while stating that the status of the group will be communicated in due course, which keeps Stars atop the group standings ahead of the Ethiopia – Ghana clash.

“Seeing that Sierra Leone is still under suspension by FIFA, please note that the above-mentioned match will not take place.

“The status of the group will be communicated later on once the competent body takes a final decision in this regards,” read part of the letter as posted by FKF.

Sierra Leone’s home and away clashes against Ghana in September were also called off over the same reason.
