AFCON 2021 draw: Ghana ready for any team - CK Akonnor

Black Stars coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor says his outfit is ready for any opposition ahead of today's AFCON 2021 draw.

Ghana have been placed in Pot 2 with record champions Egypt, two-time holders Cote D’Ivoire, Mali, Burkina Faso and Guinea.

This means the Black Stars will any face any of the teams in Pot 1 which have defending champions Algeria, 2019 finalists Senegal, three-time champions Nigeria, 1976 champions Morocco, Tunisia and host Cameroon.

Ghana will also get a team from Pot 3 which have Cape Verde, Gabon Mauritania, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, Guinea Bissau.

Finally, Akonnor's side will have a team from Pot 4 which includes Malawi, Sudan, Equatorial Guinea, Comoros, Ethiopia, Gambia.

"... with the AFCON I expect nothing, anything that comes we should be able to deal with it. So we will be ready for any other group that will come across," Akonnor said ahead of the Tuesday's draw.

CK Akonnor who is in Cameroon for the draw was accompanied by Alex Asante - Head of the National Teams Department and Deputy General Secretary of the GFA.

Ghana and 23 other countries will participate in next year’s TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for Cameroon from January 09 to February 6, 2022.

Ghana qualified to AFCON 2021 after topping their group which included South Africa, Sudan and Sao Tome.
