The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF), has appointed Ghanaian referee Daniel Laryea to officiate the AFCON 2025 semi-final game between Nigeria and the hosts, Morocco.
Mr Laryea will officiate the game scheduled to be played in Rabat on Wednesday, January 14, which is expected to be one of the tournament’s defining moments, with two of Africa’s football powerhouses battling for a place in the final.
Zakhele Thusi Granville Siwela of South Africa and Souru Phatsoane will officiate as assistant referee 1 and 2, respectively, alongside Mr Laryea.

CAF’s decision to hand Laryea the whistle is a strong endorsement of his experience, consistency and ability to manage high-pressure matches.
Laryea has built an impressive reputation on the continent, having officiated at major tournaments including previous AFCON editions and FIFA competitions.
