President Akufo-Addo has gifted Ghana Premier League Champions Hearts of Oak one million Ghana cedis to boost their CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

The President made the commitment to the Phobians when the team paid a courtesy call on him at the Jubilee House on Tuesday evening.

The Phobians delegation was led by Hon. Vincent Sowah Odotei included madam Ivy Mills, Alhaji Imoro Briamah all representing the board, Coach Samuel Boadu, Physical trainer/Welfare officer W.O-1 Paul Tandoh, Mr. Emmanuel Quashie, Kwame Opare Addo, Fatawu Mohammed, Raddy Ovouka and Ben Mensah.

Hon. Odotei praised the President for his immense support in ensuring that there is sanity in Ghana football after the Anas expose` and added that as Hearts celebrates its 110 anniversary it was of immense importance to celebrate the club’s successes with the President as the oldest existing club in Ghana.

The President was presented with a customized Hearts of Oak replica jersey with number 77 which symbolizes the President’s age.

Hearts of Oak will get their CAF Confederation Cup campaign underway on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at the Accra Sports Stadium against Algerian side Jeunesse Sportive de la Saoura (JS Saoura) in a play-off for a place in the Group Stages of the competition.

The return leg is scheduled for December 5, 2021, in Algeria.

Hearts of Oak were drawn against JS Saoura after they were crashed out of the CAF Champions League at the second qualifying round against Moroccan side Wydad Athletic Club.

The Ghana Premier League champions were walloped 6-2 on aggregate following a 6-1 mauling in Casablanca.

Meanwhile, the Phobians have started their 2021/22 Ghana Premier League campaign on a poor note leaving them at the 15th position on the league log with just 3 points.
