President Akufo-Addo is set to commission the Koforidua Sports Stadium on December 27.

The facility is a standard FIFA pitch, eight-lane running tracks for athletics, dressing rooms for athletes, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts.

It also includes facilities such as a modern gymnasium, information communication technology (ICT) centre, restaurant, an entrepreneurship centre to train the youth and a career counselling centre.

During an inspection tour of the stadium, estimated at $1.8 million, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Pius Hadzide, said he was highly impressed with the state of the construction works, which were 98 per cent complete at the time of visit.

"Although some of the works will go beyond the scheduled date, the facility is fully ready for use and I'm happy about that," he stated.

The NYA chief told the media that the outstanding work had to do with the connection of electricity and water of which documents were being prepared to enable the facility to enjoy such utility services.

"The dressing rooms are in good shape, while the tartan tracks are well laid, the public stands and football field are also in good shape and the sanitary condition of the entire edifice and its premises are all very tidy," Mr Hadzide said.
