Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan is moving back to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after completing a season-long loan move back to Al Ahli from Chinese outfit Shanghai SIPG.

Gyan, 30, passed  a mandatory medical on Wednesday after flying in from England, rubbishing claims he failed a similar exercise at English championship side Reading.

The former Sunderland striker attained a legendary status during his four-year spell playing for Al Ain, Al-Ahli's main rivals, where he scored 128 goals in 123 matches to secure three top-flight titles.

Gyan won three Golden Boot awards and scored the winner in the 2014 President’s Cup final against Ahli.

He made a big-money move to Shanghai SIPG last year but was severely affected by recurrent injuries leaving him with seven goals in 15 appearances last season.

According to ghanasoccernet, Gyan is returning to the UAE because of Cosmin Olaroiu, his coach at Al Ain for two seasons who is now at Al Ahli.
