Ghana's captain Asamoah Gyan has added a seventh title to his collection as his Dubai team Al Ahli defeated city rivals Al Shabab on Saturday to win the Gulf League Cup at the Rashid Al-Maktoum Stadium on Saturday.
Gyan was sent on as a 72nd minute substitute to assist in attack at the point Al Ahli were leading by the lone goal but Gyan missed an opportunity to double the lead before Diop secured his brace.
The League Cup victory served as consolation for Gyan and Al Ahli as they are on the verge of giving up their league title to Al Jazira.
The 31-year-old Black Stars captain who is on loan from Chinese club Shanghai SIPG,has won seven titles in the United Arab Emirates, including three Arab Gulf League titles (won with Al Ain), a Presidents Cup and two Super Cup titles.
